Shifting Priorities
I'm considering shifting my priorities from quick sketches to more polished ones, since there's much too big a gap between what I do on a daily basis and what I want from finished artwork.
Bus Drawings and Odd Bits
Sorry for not posting more often, but I'm pretty lost at the moment.... Here's the usual set of life drawings and doodles.
Atrocious Paintchatting
Got a new computer, and I'm tossing up the idea of spending a little more time playing with digital again, here's some paintchat scribbles. I just landed myself a new job too, I'm doing my best to focus on that for the time being.
Old Sketches
Sorry for not updating my blog, had to come to terms with the fact that I'm simply not ready in any way shape or form to prepare a portfolio or have this site function as one. I'm still busy relearning construction and drawing from life, I'll make the effort to post more of what I've been sketching lately.
So Hairy It Itches
Just doodling in Sketcher again. I've been playing with Gouache, Oils, Ink and Watercolours lately and failing pretty hard at it. I hope to find an approach that parallels how I do digital value sketches so I can apply that to canvas. I also ordered a book on composition called "Framed Ink" that looks pretty ace, composition is another subject I've been struggling with lately and I look forward to filling in the gaps.
Quick Butterfly Study
My first time contributing to a Sketchoholic activity, the topic was "Flying Insect" and so I figured I would do a quick study of a butterfly. (or is that a moth?) Thanks to Jim Munnelly for the reference, I hate to say it but I totally did not enjoy doing this digitally... Either I should stick to traditional for a while, or the cramp I'm getting in my hand is a sign that the tablet I'm using may be too small.
Super Kawaii~ <3
I got to watch Kekai Kotaki's online workshop over at CGMW, I learnt tons from seeing his approach and I hope I can start using some of that in my own work.
I'm considering changing the blog format a bit and talk about some of the stuff I like instead of just dumping images all the time. This doodle is just a quicky I did at ArtGrounds Sketcher, it's amazing how having a hard edged brush made speed painting in the applet a thousand times easier.
